Neighborhood cafe with friendly staff and a generally quiet, cozy environment. Come for some of the best beans in town and don't forget to try a Kolache for a memorable bite.

Tucked away steps from Millennium Park, this spot offers a fair amount of seating with great coffee. They're usually selling art from local artists which makes interesting wall decor that is an attraction in itself.

Wedge shaped cafe serving high quality beans roasted in Ukraine. 30 minute screen limit as most indoor tables, but still a good spot to get a quick task done or settle in for longer with a book. Ample outdoor seating as well.
First Sip Cafe
Dim, cozy cafe with lots of plants. Serving ube lattes, vietnamese coffee, and an extensive selection of teas. Great place to hang out for awhile in the colder months.
Four Letter Word
One might say this is the coolest spot to hang in the city. The caveat is that seating is limited to one large round table, and a couple of bar seats. Worth the effort though. So much atmosphere in one room, and excellent coffee.

Great coffee inside an interesting space with decorative ceilings and a floor-to-ceiling, room-filling map of the world as the centerpiece. Good spot to spend several hours with several nooks and crannies.

Cozy wine bar that is open in the evenings and is an excellent spot to read a book / write / etc. Wines are always interesting and memorable, and there's a full food menu (optional) if you're hungry.
